RAMSEY, NJ – The Ironmen Keglers concluded a successful season with a final record of 11-3, finishing 2nd in the United Division of the Big North Conference.
The team was led in scoring by Sophomore Ross Vocaturo (173 avg), followed by Senior Matt Blanco (171 avg) and Juniors CJ Wallace (154 avg) and Chris Pitot (153 avg). Contributing to the success of the DBP Varsity team during the
season were Senior Luke Mark (127 avg) and Sophomore Nick Theordorou (138 avg).
The Ironmen struggled in the Bergen County Tournament due to the absence of Matt Blanco, who was forced to sit out because of COVID restrictions. Having to use 2 JV bowlers in the Varsity line up, the team competed to the best of their ability with Junior CJ Wallace leading all scorers with a 168 average.
In the State Sectional Tournament, the team was back at full strength and
captured 22nd place out of 48 teams. Ross Vocaturo led the Ironmen with a 201 average and finished in 28th place out of the 248 bowlers who participated in the tournament.
The DBP JV Bowling team also concluded a successful campaign, finishing with a record of 8-6. The team was led by Nick Theordorou, followed by fellow Sophomores Connor McAuley (131 avg) and Colin Schnapp (101 avg) along with Freshman Grant Dabaghian (118 avg).
Ironmen Bowlers earning post-season honors were Ross Vocaturo (1st Team All League), Matt Blanco (2nd Team All League), CJ Wallace (2nd Team All League), Chris Pitot (2nd Team All League) and Luke Mark (Honorable Mention All League).
The 2023 MVP Award was given to Senior Matt Blanco for his 4-year commitment to the program and his continual enthusiastic support for his teammates during the season.
