The Don Bosco Prep Ironmen came away with a dominant 31-7 victory over arch rivals Bergen Catholic Crusaders on Saturday.  After this crucial win for Don Bosco, they take the spot as the number 1 team in New Jersey, overthrowing Bergen, according to MaxPreps.

A very strong offensive game allowed the Ironmen to dominate.  Quarterback Nick Minnicucci (Sr.) threw for 2 touchdowns, 153 yards on 9/14 completion rate, gaining him an impressive 140.8 QB rating.  Outstanding performances by running backs Nolan James (Soph.) and Logan Bush (Jr.) both rushing for 89 yards, both getting rushing touchdowns, and James getting a receiving touchdown, helped put the game out of reach for the Crusaders.  Defensively the Ironmen were solid only allowing 7 points the entire game.  Matt Severin’s (Sr.) interception sealed the victory late in the fourth quarter for the Ironmen. (All statistics are according to MaxPreps)

Incredible games from O-line Chase Bisontis (Sr.), linebacker Jay Brown (Jr.), wide receiver Bobby Mays (Jr.), kicker Jack Donneley (Soph.) and many more all deserve to be mentioned as well.  The performance was exceptional on both sides of the ball.  Coach Sabella should be very proud of his crew, and take this momentum into their next game against St. Peter’s Prep on September 30.
