DBP Ski Racing Is Back On Top

RAMSEY, NJ –   The Don Bosco Prep Ski Racing team has done it again!

The Ironmen have won their eleventh State Championship, solidifying their position as the top ski racing team in the State! With outstanding performances from both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, it is no surprise that Don Bosco came out on top.

Going into the season, the team had extremely high expectations. In the previous three seasons, the Ironmen had made it to the State Championship every year, but had come up just short each time. Going into the season, the Ironmen had their eyes on finally finishing the job and securing the State Championship. Bosco’s downhill skiers knew that winning the Championship was never easy, but with the guidance of their coach, Carl Boyan, and the leadership of their Captains, Richard Black ‘23 and Connor Magee ‘23, the team was ready to take on the challenge that came its way. And, that’s exactly what the DBP Ski Racing team did!

The Ironmen put on a display of excellence, finishing with thirty-five wins and only two losses. In the two State Championship races, the Ironmen went undefeated to claim the trophy. The team also had an abundance of individual successes, with Connor Magee and Spencer Donohue finishing 1st team All State and John Devir finishing 2nd team All State. The three went on to compete in the Eastern Regionals High School Championship individual race at Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire  These three Bosco downhill racers’ outstanding performances helped lead the team to victory, as they dominated the competition with their precision and speed.

But, Don Bosco Prep’s success didn’t stop there. The Junior Varsity team also put on a remarkable performance, sweeping the podium in the JV States and having the best 4 racers. This just goes to show the depth of talent that the Don Bosco Prep Ski Racing team possesses.

Coach Carl Boyan was ecstatic with the team’s performance, saying, “It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve something like this. These boys have put in the time and effort, and it has paid off. I am extremely proud of them.”

Captains Richard Black and Connor Magee echoed their coach’s sentiments, expressing their pride in the team’s accomplishment: “We knew we had a talented group of skiers on our team, but to win the State Championship is truly remarkable. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our coach, our families, and our teammates.” 

The Don Bosco Prep Ski Racing team’s success is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and teamwork. The Ironmen have once again shown that they are a force to be reckoned with in the State of New Jersey, and will no doubt continue to dominate for years to come.
