On Friday October 14, the Don Bosco Prep Ironmen played against the Seton Hall Prep Pirates under the lights at Granatell Stadium for the stadium’s 50th anniversary. The Ironmen came out on top with a 35-21 victory, Bosco remains as the number two team in New Jersey, according to MaxPreps.
The junior-sophomore running back duo of Logan Bush (‘24) and Nolan James (‘25) ran riot for the Ironmen. Bush came away from the game with 182 yards on 18 carries with two rushing touchdowns. James ended the game with 117 yards on 13 carries for one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. Quarterback Nick Miniccuci (‘23) showed off his dual-threat capabilities rushing for 88 yards on 6 carries and one rushing touchdown. He also attempted 5 throws completing 2, 1 being a touchdown, garnering himself a QB rating of 97.5. Kicker Jack Donnelly had 100% accuracy from extra point attempts going 5/5, this is the second game in a row that he has not missed an extra point attempt. (All statistics according to MaxPreps)
Defensively the Ironman were strong with defensive back/safety Mack Gutjahr (‘23), and linebacker Vincent Bertone (‘24) being the standouts. Mack earned himself 5 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and a pass disruption later in the game. Vincent earned himself 1 solo tackles, and 5 assisted tackles. They made the first and second highest number of tackles in the game. With defensive back Mike Genardi (‘23) injured, wide receiver Omaree Walker (‘23) stepped in. He was able to get 3 solo tackles and 1 assisted tackles in his defensive debut. (All statistics according to MaxPreps)
The Ironmen were impressive in their win against the Pirates picking up their 4th win of the season. They look ahead to their next game against Paramus Catholic on 10/21.
